by Lentz and St. held the Grace- N-J Veteran 'Miss Nettie' Bishop Dies Miss L. Annetta Bishop, 76, proofreader who served two Wilmington newspapers a total of 49 years, died early Saturday in The Memorial Hospital. Miss Bishop left Beacom College (now Goldey Beacom School of Business) to go to work in 1 1902, when she was 15 years old. It was then that she joined the old Every Evening as a proofreader.

With the 1933 merger of the two papers, she continued in the same capacity with the Journal-Every ing until her retirement in 1951. MISS NETTIE, as she was fondly addressed by her friends and co-workers, was quiet little lady who offered her opinion only when asked. When she began her career, the proof room was one of the few spots in newspaper plant where women predominated. Miss Bishop's cousin, Miss Alice Bishop, also Journal proofreader, died about year ago. The "Miss Nettie" and "Miss Alice" distinguished one from the other.

Miss Nettie's passion for accuracy has become almost legend among newspaper people who were familiar with her work. It was almost impossible to catch her in misspelling, and, as one former colleague recalled, "no Wilmington name ever got past Nettie misspelled. On names, she was walking encyclopedia." MISS BISHOP became 111 1 last fall and was hospitalized for several weeks. She recovered sufficiently to attend public functions during Christmas week. She remained home until Sunday, March 23, when she was returned to the hospital.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. For many years she lived at sori N. Franklin moving about year ago to 6 Beverly Place, Hillcrest. Her only survivor is brother, George, H. Bishop, with whom she lived.

She was a Wilmington native. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow Trinity Church, Delaware Ave. and Adams with interment in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call tonight at the Chandler Funeral Home, Delaware Ave.

and Jefferson Street. of Driver Suffers Skull Fracture A Wilmington area man suffered a skull fracture in an auto accident yesterday near Elkton, in which his car was practically undamaged. James N. Holland, 39, First Avenue, Mill Creek, is in serious condition in Delaware Hospital with a skull fracture and numerous cuts and bruises. A companion, Charles R.

Rust, 44, 100 block Madison Drive, College Park, Newark, was in Fair condition in Union Hospital, Elkton, with a fractured collarbone, fractured ribs and bruises. Maryland state police said Holland was driving west on Route 279 when he applied the brakes and lost control of the car. They said the auto crossed the center line, went off the road and skidded 315 feet before coming to rest in a ditch. They said the two men were thrown from the car. Damage to the auto was estimated at $10.

Police said if the men had been wearing seat belts, they would not have been thrown from the auto, and might have avoided serious injury.
