GEORGE T. "TERRY" FOX, 58, of 8 Finney Road, Penn Acres, New Castle, died Thursday at home.

The cause of death is being determined by the Medical Examiner's Office. the Experimental Station, now Textile Fibers Department, in the early research on Nylon and later on Dacron polyester fiber. He became production manager in 1966.

In 1970, he was promoted to manufacturing director, and retired from that position in 1978. He and his wife resided in Montchanin before moving to Myrtle Beach. to the House in 1976. He said he will run on his record of innovation and service. A self-described "moderate-conservative watchdog over state spending," Bennett is a former chairman of the powerful Joint Finance Committee and a former House Education Committee chairman. He has been particularly active in education task forces and committees. Paradee, 55, owner and president of Paradee Gas said that, as a businessman, "1 have something that I can give to the people in the district to help maintain their quality of life." Paradee, who served two two-year terms as county Democratic chairman during the 1980s, is chairman of the Kent County Board of Adjustment.

In 1980, he was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for the 34th District seat in the House of Representatives. Paradee said he would formally announce for the seat some time next month. From the Dover Bureau DOVER Rep. Edward J. Bennett, D-Dover South, has announced that he will seek the 16th Senate District seat being vacated next year by the retiring Sen.

William C. Torbert, D-Dover South. And Bennett promptly drew a primary opponent. W. Charles Faradee a former Kent County Democratic chairman, announced that he also would be a candidate for the seat.

The early declarations give the two a temporary jump for what promises to be a hotly contested race for the seat, which has been held by Torbert for 13 years. The heads of both parties in Kent County already had expressed concerns about primaries for the seat. The Senate district stretches east and south from Bennett's House district into an area where his father and grandfather lived and where he was born Milford. The 56-year-old operator of a security firm was first elected tional Organization of Legal Problems in Education and National Association of Secondary School Principals. In the 1980s, he taught school business management graduate course at the College of Education, University of Delaware, as an adjunct faculty member.

He received a doctorate in education from Temple University in 1973, a master's degree in education from University of Delaware and a bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg (Pa.) State College in 1951. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both in Dover; Camden-Wyoming (Del.) Rotary Club; and American Association of Retired Persons. In the 1970s and 1980s, he served in the Army Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He graduated from Command and General Staff School, Carlisle, Air War College, Montgomery, and Military Intelligence School, Arizona. He was a Navy veteran, serving in the North Atlantic and off Germany during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita; a son, John and a daughter, Edie Ryan, both of Dover; four brothers, James, Frank, Thomas and Michael, all of Philadelphia; two sisters, Trudy Tupp-ance of Aylett, and Lorraine Orsini of Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Dover, and a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed streets, Dover, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
