There will be booths, refreshments and other attractions. Symposium on aging "Developing Mental Health for the Elderly" is the name of a daylong symposium at the University of Delaware's John M. Clayton Hall, May 3, starting at 9:30 a.m. The program will focus on therapeutic services available to the institutionalized elderly, socio-economic factors affecting the mental health of the aging, and an update on the state's facilities. The program is sponsored by the state's divisions of aging and mental health, the university's Division of Continuing Education and the Mental Health Association of Delaware.

and Mrs. Philip Modesto of 114 W. Summit Elmhurst, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 16. They were married in the Church of Our Lady of Grace, Hoboken, N.J., by the Rev. Edward J.

Begley. Mrs. Modesto, the form'er Rose Solia, has held several offices in the Wilmington Club for the Deaf. Her husband retired in 1967 from the News-Journal Co. as a linotype operator and proofreader.

Modesto aided in organizing the typographical union at the papers. He held a number of offices including president and was an official delegate at several conventions. He also set up and coordinated the apprentice training program. The couple have three children: Amelia Grimes, Doris Rhodes and Phillip Jr. of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

A party in the home of their son honored the couple. Pfister Mr. and Mrs. John Pfister of Port Penn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 17. They were married in the Methodist Episcopal Parsonage, Odessa.

Mrs. Pfister is the former Myrtle Fleming. Her husband retired in 1967 and was a member of Carpenters' Local 626. They have two daughters: Dorothy Bendler and Janet Armstrong of Middletown, and six grandchildren. Salus Mr.

and Mrs. Morris Salus of 201 N. Harrison St. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 29. They were honored at a dinner dance at the Hotel du Pont hosted by their sons, Norman S.

and Leon D. Salus, and their wives of Wilmington. The couple have another son, Irving of California; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friedel Mr. and Mrs.

Henry Robert Friedel of 25 W. Delaware Gwinhurst, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 16. They were married in Atonement United Methodist Church, Clay-mont, by the Rev. Hugh Kelso. Mrs.

Friedel is the former Clara May Reynolds. Her husband is retired from Texaco, Clay-mont. A party honored the couple in the Fellowship Hall of Holly Oak United Methodist Church.
