ELENA "HELEN" MUSCARELLA, 70, of Kennett Square, died Wednesday of congestive heart failure in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, where she was a patient.

Mrs. Muscarella was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Kennett Square. Her husband, Russell, died in 1979. She is survived by a son, Russell D.

of West Grove; a daughter, Susan Muscarella of Kennett Square; two brothers, Bernadino Ciuffetelli of Kennett Square and Augustine Ciuffetelli of West Chester; and a granddaughter. THOMPSON TYRRELL, 84, of Ethan Allen Court, Cherry Hill Manor, Newark, formerly of Warren, Ohio, died Wednesday of kidney failure in Christiana Hospital. Mrs. Tyrrell, a native of Columbus, was a homemaker.

Her husband, Howard died in 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Shirlee L. Gent, with whom she lived; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel of Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, with burial in the adjoining park.

There will be no viewing. MILDRED D. WEST, 87, formerly of Du Pont Highway, Millsboro, died Tuesday of heart failure at Millsboro Nursing Home, where she was a patient. Mrs. West, a homemaker, was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Millsboro.

Her husband, Armel, died in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Warren of Millsboro, and a grandson. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Millsboro Cemetery, State Street. ELOUISE WILDE, 92, of 23 Beach Pennsville, N.J., died Tuesday of leukemia in Memorial Hospital of Salem County, where she was a patient. Mrs. Wilde, born in Wilmington, lived in Carneys Point before moving to Pennsville 43 years ago. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsville, and an honorary member of Salem County Sportsman's Club, Carneys Point. Her husband of 69 years, Albert Edward, died in 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, Marie Baevsky of Vero Beach, Ruth Bracale of Penns Grove and Shirley Bowers of Pennsville; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laughrey Funeral Home, 1 N. Broadway, Pennsville, where family and friends may call at 10. Burial will be in Silver-brook Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue and Du Pont Road, Wilmington.

LEON WENDELL WRIGHT, 70, of 215 Oakwood Road, Fairfax, died Tuesday of apparent heart failure in Wilmington Hospital, after becoming ill at home. Mr. Wright, a research chemist for 30 years at ICI Americas, retired in 1986. He joined the company in 1956 when it was Atlas ter, Marian C.

Malgeri of East-burn Acres, Stanton, a sister, Rae Bencivenga at home; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-greatgrandchildren. DiSIMONE, 31, of 32 Wakefield Drive, Fairfield Crest near Newark, and Reho-both Beach, died Tuesday of complications from AIDS in Christiana Hospital. Mr. DiSimone had been a chef at several 5-star restaurants on the East Coast, his family said. A Wilmington native, he was a graduate of Newark High School, attended the University of Delaware and graduated in 1990 from New England Culinary Institute, Essex, Vt. He enjoyed cooking, hiking, the outdoors and the beach.

He is survived by his parents, Joseph T. and Barbara E. DiSimone of Fairfield Crest. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the McDaniel residence, 4 Henlopen Rehoboth Beach.

LOUISE S. HUDSON, 86, of Kent Convalescent Center, Smyrna, formerly of 404 West Clayton, died Tuesday of heart failure in Kent General Hospital, Dover, at the nursing home. Mrs. Hudson was a clerk at the post office in Clayton from 1953 until retiring in 1972. She was a member of Ewell's St.

Paul United Methodist Church, Clayton, and Clayton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Raymond died in 1966. She is survived by two sons, Raymond S. and Richard both of Smyrna; a daughter, Nancy H. Faries of Smyrna; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A service will be at 2 p.m: Saturday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main Smyrna, where family and friends may call at 1. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. CARROLL L. JOHNSON, 85, of rural Dover, died Tuesday of heart failure in Kent General Hospital, where he was a patient.

Mr. Johnson had owned and operated Johnson Saw Shop, Little Creek, and was a commercial waterman. He is survived by his wife, Bertha five sons, Thomas L. and William both of Newark, James A. of Clayton, and Robert' E.

and Carroll L. both of Smyrna; a daughter, Etta May Winters of Staatsburg, N.Y.; two brothers, Allen Johnson of Mil-ford and Bayard Sweetman of Fel-ton; three sisters, Evelyn Brown of Felton, Ruth Frazier of Dover and Catherine Marvel of Camden; 24 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. A service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Dover, where family and friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

BETTY L. LAYTON, 66, of rural Harrington, died Wednesday of respiratory failure in Milford Memorial Hospital, after becoming ill at home. Mrs. Layton was a presser for several years at Aetna Shirt Harrington. After that, she worked at Kling's Meat Market in Willow Grove, before retiring SUAFOKD Retired first-grade teacher Nellie Hughes Stokes, for whom Caesar Rodney school district named an elemen tary school, died Tuesday of respiratory failure in Life Care at Lof-land Park, Seaford.

She was 95. Mrs. Stokes was formerly of Harrington. She taught school for 49 years, 43 of them at Caesar Rodney Elementary School, Wyoming. She retired in 1963 and the school's name was changed in 1968.

Relatives said she taught three generations of first-graders. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and an honorary member of Harrington Century Club and Harrington Fire Company Ladies KERRY F. BLIGH, 42, of 1656 Theodore Road, Rising Sun, died Tuesday of cardiovascular disease in Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, after being stricken at home. Mr. Bligh was a brake operator at Atacs Oxford, Pa.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Christine a son, Brian Christopher Dougherty, and a daughter, Amanda Marie Shelley, both at home; his mother, Mary C. Bligh of Baltimore; and a sister, Valery Mclnnis of New Jersey. A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gee Funeral Home, 259 E.

Main Elkton, where family and friends may call after 7 tonight. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Union. IRENE WALTON BOWDLE, 90, of East Loockerman Street, Dover, died Tuesday at home. Mrs. Bowdle, born in Philadelphia, moved to Dover in 1928.

She was a member of Presbyter rian Church of Dover and was active in church and civic organizations. Her husband, James Clement Bowdle, died in 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Jean B. Francis of Dover; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A service will be at 2 p.m.

BOYD, 79, of Doctor Jack Road, Conowingo, died Wednesday in Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, where he was a patient.

Mr. Boyd, a welder at Wiley Manufacturing Co. in Port Deposit, retired in 1974. Earlier, he was a welder for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Delmarva Division; a milk route salesman for Mount Ararat Farms, Port Deposit; and an agent for Prudential Insurance Co. He was a member of Harmony Lodge 53 and Chapter 78, Order of the Eastern Star, both in Port Deposit.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Grant Boyd; a son, Curtis B. of Moreno Valley, a sister, Elmira B. Eberhardt of Perry-ville; and a grandson. A service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Patterson Funeral Home, Perryville, where family and friends may call at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Rising Sun Library or the Marianne CHELSEA A. RUGGIERO, the eight-year-old daughter of Thomas F. and Christine Ruggiero of Bear, died Tuesday in Christiana Hospital of injuries after an Aug. 3 auto accident.

Chelsea was injured in a head-on collision on Mulberry Street, Milton. She was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital and later to Christiana Hospital. Chelsea had completed the third grade at Our Lady of Fatima School in June, where she played soccer. She enjoyed swimming. She is survived by her parents; a brother, Luke T.

at home; her paternal grandparents, Joseph L. and Mary Lou Ruggiero of Wilmington; and her maternal grandmother, Eleanor Justison of Bear. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 801 N. Du Pont Highway, New Castle.

SMITH SR, 67, of 29 Ronna Drive, Albertson Park, Prices Corner, died Tuesday of kidney failure in Christiana Hospital, where he was a patient. Mr. Smith was a production manager at Coca-Cola Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, for 30 years, retiring in 1972. After that, he was a a millwright for 14 years at General Motors Corp. Boxwood Road plant, retiring in 1988.

Born in Kingston, he moved to Wilmington as a child. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and France. He was a member and trustee of Polish American Post 3257, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wilmington. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elsie Barto Smith; two sons, Robert J. Jr.

and George both of Wilmington; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Coats of Gibbs-boro, N.J.; two brothers, Edward and Martin, and a sister, Susan Beachboard, all of Wilmington; and six grandchildren. A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at John F. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 S. Harrison where family and friends may call at 9.

Burial will be in Delaware Veter Fanucci Patient Fund of Northern Chesapeake Hospice. WALTER E. CIMINO, 38, of 138 Jay Drive, Chelsea Estates near New Castle, died Friday of heart failure in Christiana Hospital, where he was a patient. Mr. Cimino was a dry wall hanger.

He enjoyed fishing and boating. He is survived by a daughter, Brandy Cimino of New Castle; his mother, Alice V. Peters of Wilmington; four brothers, John and Nesbit, both of Florida, David of New Castle and Robert, stationed with the Marines in North Carolina; two sisters, Gwen L. Hart of Marcus Hook, and Frances Simpson of New Castle; and his stepmother, Frances Cimino, with whom he lived. A service and burial will be private.

EVELYN W. CLYMER, 79, formerly of Leedom Estates, died Tuesday of cancer in Arbors at New Castle nursing home, where she was a patient for 13 months. Mrs. Clymer was a cafeteria worker at William Penn High School, New Castle. She retired in 1978 after 15 years.

Earlier, she was a copy machine operator at DuPont Seaford nylon plant and in Wilmington. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, New Castle. Her husband, John died in 1965. She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Whaley of Laurel, David J.

Whaley and Jack E. Clymer of New Castle; four daughters, Shirley W. Nolan, Ina W. Morton and Alleen C. Kre-watch, all of New Castle, and Jill E.

McCorkle of Stanton; a brother, Cleveland Vickers and a sister, Martha Ross, both of Lau- rel; 21 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware New Castle, where family and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. CONDIFF, 86, of 2611 McKean Philadelphia, died Wednesday in Methodist Hospital, Philadelphia, where she was a patient. Mrs. Condiff, who retired in 1962, owned and operated Condiff Linen Shop on Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia for 20 years.

Earlier, she was a clerk and supervisor at Western Union in Philadelphia for 25 years. Her husband, Calvin died in 1981. She is survived by a daugh CLYMER In the Arbors of New Castle on August 10, 1993, Evelyn W. Clymer, wife of the late John E. Clymber, formerly of Leedom Estates, New Castle.
