She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Seaford for about three years in the late 1960s.

STEPHEN CARL SMACK, 57, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Newark, died Saturday of cancer at home. Mr. Smack was comptroller at Wilmington Country Club for many years until 1989 and had worked in the accounting department at General Motors Corp. near Newport, Del. He later worked for Arnold Palmer Golf Course Management, Orlando, Fla.

He moved to Illinois in 1994 and was comptroller at Medinah Country Club in Bloomingdale for two years. His first wife, Judith Ferguson Smack, and their two children, Susan C. and John C. Smack, drowned in 1972, when their cabin cruiser sank in the Delaware Bay off Big Stone Beach, Del. Survivors: parents, Lawrence C.

and Evelyn Smack of Vero Beach, brother, Bruce of Greentown, children, Michael Smack of North East, and Smack and Eric Smack, both of Newark; three grandsons; fiancee, Lee Brice Rhodes of Bloomingdale. McGonigle of Rising Sun, with whom he lived; brothers, William and Peter DeLuca, both of Wilmington, sister, Viola Caserta of Wilmington; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FRANCES MARIE GOTT, 56, of New Castle, died Thursday of cancer at her brother's home in Penn Acres. Mrs. Gott was born in Wilmington and graduated from St. Peter's Catholic High School in 1958. She was a secretary and receptionist at Delaware Vocational and Rehabilitation Center for almost 20 years.

After retiring on disability, she remained there as a volunteer. She was a member, officer and volunteer of the Mancus Foundation. Her brother, Bernard J. Gott died Sept. 23.

Survivors: companion, Thomas F. Verucci of New Castle, with whom she had lived; brothers, Joseph Murray of Bear and Robert A. Murray of Penn Acres; sister, Sister Agnes B. Gott, O.P. of McLean, Va.
