A former res- KENNETH JAMES BAER 67, of Porter Road, Bear, died Wednesday at home. Mr. Baer had worked for 30 years as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Teamsters Local 326 and a Korean War Army veteran. From the 1950s through the 1970s, he played with the Mason-Dixon Boys, a country westernbluegrass band, and accompanied many well-known artists, including Ernest Tubbs and Jimmy Dickins.

He played several instruments, but was best known for steel guitar. He was a member of New Castle Moose Lodge. Survivors: wife of 46 years, Eleanor A. Baer; sons, David, Gary, Dale and Mark, all of Bear, and Kenny of Smyrna; mother, Mabel K. Baer of Bear; sister, Ida Jannuizzio of Wilmington; brothers, George of Harrington, Donald and Robert, both of Bear; 10 grandchildren.

State Kennett Square. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight. Burial: Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. ROBERT S.SIPES, 73, of Camil-lus, N.Y., died Tuesday in Christiana Hospital, near Stanton, from injuries sustained in a Feb. 8 auto accident in Sayre, Pa.

Mr. Sipes worked for the state of New York. He wa3 superintendent of maintenance at the Syracuse Developmental Center for 35 years, retiring about 1986. The Curwensville, native was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. His wife, Margaret JoAnn Johnson, died in 1996.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Robbie and Anthony Testa of Newark, who helped take care of him; two brothers; three grandchildren. EDWARD H. SLAUGHTER, 82, of Smyrna, died Thursday at Court-land Manor Nursing Home, Dover. Mr. Slaughter worked for 25 years for the state Highway Division, retiring in 1982. He was past president of the department's Federal Credit Union.

He was a member of the Cloverleaf Standard-bred Owners Association. Survivors: sons, Edward H. Jr. of Middletown, John C. of Downs Chapel; daughters, Jane Slaughter of Wilmington, Helen Borkholder of Middletown, Roberta Hollow-man of Powder Springs, brother, Robert Slaughter of Mil-ford; 14 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren.

CUTLER 82, of Elsmere, died Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. Mr. Cutler was a crane operator for the Port of Wilmington, retiring in 1969 after 22 years. After that, he worked for Feralloy Steel Co.

in Wilmington, during which time he served as president of United Steel Workers Union Local. He was a member of Prince of Piedmont Lodge in Wilmington. Survivors: sons, Malcolm T. with whom he lived, and Paul F. of Wilmington; brother, Burleigh of Onancock, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Fry died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a single-car accident near Summit Bridge. Mr. Fry had worked at General Motors Boxwood Road, for 13 years and was a member of the United Auto Workers union. He served in the Marine Corps. Survivors: wife of 32 years, Betty Jo Fry; sons, Charles R.

Jr. of Newark, and Eric R. of Middle-town; daughter, Patricia Leighton of Newark; mother, Dora E. Dailey of Harrisburg; brothers, John, Jack, Earl, Pete and Harold, all of Harrisburg, and Lindsey of Florida; sisters, Peggy Black and Arlene Fry, both of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren. NINA DuBOIS FUE, the 1989-1990 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year, died Thursday of cancer in Christiana Hospital, near Stanton, Del.

She was 62 and lived at 48 Spruce Pennsville, N.J. Mrs. Fue, a teacher for more than 30 years, taught fourth grade at the Mary Shoemaker School in Woodstown, retiring earlier this year. She served on the Pennsville Board of Education and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsville. She earned a bachelor's degree from Trenton State College and a master's degree from Glassboro State College.

Her husband, John V. Fue died June 12 Survivors: daughters, Allison F. Morgan of Clayton, and Jennifer F. McBride of Middletown, brother, Elwood S. DuBois Jr.

Heiderich was a research chemist and patent specialist for the DuPont retiring in 1980. He was an Army major with the Office of Strategic Services in Europe during World War II. NALLY, 69, of 1904 W. Seventh Wilmington, died Wednesday in Christiana Hospital near Stanton. Mrs. Nally had worked in the data processing department of the Delaware River Bay Authority for 27 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St.

Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where she volunteered for 20 years at its Italian Festival and belonged to the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was a member of the Italo-Ameri-can Society, and Friends of Italian Culture. Mr. Paradee was founder and president of Paradee Oil Co. and Paradee Gas Co. in Dover. He was a member and past president of the Dover Rotary, with more than 43 years of perfect attendance at the organization's meetings.

He was named a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest commendation of Rotary International. He was a member and past president of the board of trustees of Wesley United Methodist Church and was a sponsor of civic organizations, including Boy Scout Troop 13. He was a Mason and a member of Union Lodge 7, Dover, and Royal Order of Jesters, and was a charter member of Nur Temple in Wilmington. ANTONIA RIVERA-ORTEGA, 94, of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, died Saturday at her daughter's home in Wilmington. Mrs. Rivera-Ortega was a home-maker. Her husband, Ramon Guzman, died in 1965. Survivors: daughters, Felicita Guzman of Toa Alta, and Gen-oveva Morales of Wilmington, with whom she was staying; sons, Pagan Guzman, Ventura Guzman and Angel Marcano, all of Toa Alta; 14 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shetzler died Wednesday in Christiana Hospital after being injured earlier that day in a single-car accident on Walkers School Road near Blackbird, He had just completed his junior year at Smyrna High School, where he was a high-honor student and a grand marshal for the Class of 1999.

He was historian for the student government and was a member of the French Club and the varsity golf team, on which he played for three years. John was a member of Ewell's St. Paul United Methodist Church, Clayton. He was working on a crab boat for the summer at Collins Beach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Ill and Susan Ziegler Shetzler of Clayton; brother, Greg Reed of Smyrna; sisters, Emily Shetzler of Clayton, and Candace Shetzler of Lewes; maternal grandmother, Frances Ziegler of Clayton.
