Stewart IV was spared the harsh rebuke often delivered by a judge to a convicted murderer before sentencing the kind two of his accomplices got last week. Circuit Court Judge Donaldson C. Cole Jr. said Friday it was a "very heinous act," but had few other remarks before sentencing Stewart, 24, to life imprisonment for his part in the 1988 murder of bicyclist Michael Morgan. Defense attorney Christopher J.

Eastridge said Stewart will appeal. State's attorney John L. Scarborough was satisfied with Friday's finale to the three-part murder case. "These were the most difficult cases we've had" for evidence, Scarborough said. didn't have a lot of evidence.

The juries just did a good Stewart was the last of three men to be sentenced in the case. Kenneth L. Dove, 27, and Glenn E. Gray 25, were sentenced earlier this month, both to life terms. Cole ranked the case as one of the worst in county history.

RAPE ATTEMPT REPORTED: POLICE Morris Levenberg, 76, deputy chief magistrate WILMINGTON Morris Levenberg, deputy chief magistrate of New Castle County, died Friday cardiac complications in Christiana Hospital, where he was a patient. He was 76. Mr. Levenberg, of 306 W. 37th Wilmington, was appointed magistrate in 1967 by Gov.

Charles L. Terry Jr. Although he started as a printer and once owned the Wilmington Printing he developed MR. LEVENBERG an interest in fighting crime. MR.

LEVENBERG Mr. Levenberg was appointed to four-year terms by governors Russell W. Peterson, Sherman W. Tribbitt, and twice by Pierre S. du Pont IV.

He was appointed to his latest term early this year by Gov. Castle. He was named chief magistrate by Chief Justice Daniel L. Herrmann in 1974 and was continued as a deputy chief magistrate by Norman Barron, who was chief magistrate until 1988. In 1988, he was selected by the National Judges Association as one of three outstanding non-lawyer judges in nation.

He was chairman of the national association's legislative committee. He ran for state senator unsuccessfully in 1964 and 1966 as a Thursday of heart failure in Salisbury Nursing Home, where he had been a patient. Mr. Ennis worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and its successors for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He is survived by a son, George T.

HALL, 90, of Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Church Road, Newark, formerly of Wilmington, died Thursday at the home. Mrs. Hall had been a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1968. She is survived by a daughter, Cecile Buonocore, and a grandson, Todd Buonocore, both of Wilmington.

He was a member and former president of the Jewish Historical Society. In the 1940s and 1950s he organized an all-black theatrical group, the Walnut Street YMCA players, his daughter said. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Delaware in 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Samet Levenberg; a son, Benjamin Frank of Newark; a daughter, Fredda Samet Pennock of Kennett Square, a sister, Jeanne Sackman of Margate, N.J.; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Temple Beth Emeth, 300 Lea Blvd. Burial will be private. Shiva will be observed Sunday at the Temple and Monday at the Pennock residence, 614 Hillendale Road, Kennett Square.

Mr. Leounes, a native of Wilmington and a third-generation restaurateur, worked for many years in his family-owned restaurant, Leounes Towne Talk, in downtown Wilmington. He was in charge of the upstairs seafood room, the Quarterdeck, and was a well-known wine connoisseur. The restaurant, which was established by the Leounes family in 1950, closed in 1983.

Mr. Leounes was also a real estate broker and manager at the Westtown, branch of B. Gary Scott Co. He had been active in the Air National Guard in Wilmington. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, N.J., and received his master's degree in business administration at the University of Delaware.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Anthony and Dorothy Leounes of West Chester; his mother, Stavrothea Speronis Leounes of Claymont, two brothers, Ronald of Wilmington and Anthony Jr. of Black Rock Hill, Chadds Ford; and his grandmother, Katherine Speronis of Lowell, Mass. Interment Delaware Veterans Memorial Park, Bear, DE. nurse and clinical instructor of nursing at Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital, Perryville, Md. She retired in 1981 after five years. Earlier, she taught at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she helped establish the psychiatric nursing program. She taught at Williamsport Hospital and Divine Providence Hospital, both in Williamsport, Pa.

She had been in nursing for 45 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Williamsport. She moved to Delaware in 1974.

She graduated in 1947 from Temple University School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She received a bachelor's of science in nursing from Lycoming College in Williamsport in 1965 and a master's in psychiatric nursing in 1980 from the University of Delaware. She is survived by her husband, Robert a son, Scott A. Worthington of Altamonte Springs, a daughter, Kathy Ann Worthington of Harrisburg, a stepson, Robert C. Picking of Montoursville, a stepdaughter, Brenda J.

DiBuo of Houston, Texas; her mother, Bessie J. Newcomer of Williamsport; a brother, Stanley Newcomer of Stillwater, a sister, Shirley Vognet of Williamsport; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 701 S.

ROBINSON 82, of Episcopal Church Home, Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, died there Wednesday of heart failure. Mr. Robinson had been director of plant planning and construction in the Prince Georges County (Md.) school district. He had taught vocational building trades, mathematics and mechanical drawing at Bladensburg High School in Prince Georges. He was a 1927 graduate and president of the senior class of Williamson Trade School, Philadelphia.

He attended Drexel Institute, University of Maryland at College Park and Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He was a former member of Cheverly (Md.) United Methodist Church, where he had been chairman of its building and music committees and its board of trustees. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and chairman of its community service; former member of the National Education and Teachers associations of Prince Georges County and life member and former president of Maryland School Business Officials. He had served on the Salvation Army Advisory, Board in Washington, D.C., and the Washington Building Congress. His wife, Edna died in 1981.

He is survived by a son, Arthur E. Jr. of Tacoma Park, a daughter, Joan E. Heckroth of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; and five Services and burial will be great private. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Cheverly United Methodist Church, Cheverly.

The woman was walking on the median near Bob's Big Boy restaurant about 3 a.m. when she was approached by a man who offered her a ride, police said.

She refused and walked toward the restaurant, said Cpl. David L. Baylor, a state police spokesman. Baylor said the man left the car and followed the woman, who fell. The man grabbed her, removed her clothing and tried to have sex with her, Baylor said.

The woman struggled, escaped and ran toward Naamans Road, where she flagged down a truck and summoned police. The man is described as age 28 to 32, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 to 190 pounds, with a dark olive complexion and short, dark, curly hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt, possibly long-sleeved. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Troop 2 at 323-4411. BABY INJURED: WILMINGTON A man has been charged with injuring his 8-month-old daughter when he swung a chrome bar at her mother and missed, county police said.

Police said Desmond Earl, 22, of the 100 block of N. Rodney was visiting his. former girlfriend, Desiree L. Stanford, 22, and their baby daughter, Monique Stanford, Tuesday at their home in Hidden Valley Apartments in Alban Park. Earl began arguing with Stanford and tried to hit her with the 2-foot bar, said Cpl.

William J. Gore, county police spokesman. Gore said Earl hit Monique, cutting her leg. The child was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she received 10 stitches, police said.

Earl was arrested Thursday when he returned to Stanford's home, Gore said. He was charged with assault, possessing a deadly weapon during a felony, threatening bodily harm and reckless en- dangerment. ACCIDENT VICTIM DIES: DELMAR A Delmar man died Thursday of injuries after a twocar collision June 4, police said. Robert B. Tyre 60, died in Peninsula Medical Center, Salisbury, where he had been since the crash, said Cpl.

Rick Chamberlin, a state police spokesman. Police said Tyre was driving west on Sussex 64 about 7 a.m., four miles north of Delmar, when his car and a car driven by Teirace T. Sommers, 19, of Delmar, collided. Neither driver was using a seat belt, police said. Both were hospitalized.

Sommers has been released. Tyre is the 73rd person to die on Delaware highways this year. At this time last year in the state, 54 people had died in traffic accidents. 1 HURT IN ACCIDENT: NEW CASTLE One person was hurt Friday in a single-car accident on Interstate 95, which was followed by a chain-reaction crash and a traffic jam, police said. The road was shut down temporarily to allow a helicopter to land and take an injured person to Christiana Hospital, state police said. Officials for Wesley College in Dover and Wilmington College say application totals this year are about the same as last year. Wesley has received 1,374 applications this year compared with 1,372 last year. At Delaware State College, freshman applications are up about 15 percent. OIL SPILL CLEANUP: NEW CASTLE The cleanup of a oil spill that occurred nearly three months ago along Basin Road is expected to be completed by Monday, state officials said. A tanker truck, owned by BG Transport of Thorofare, N.J., skidded out of control and overturned on Basin Road (Delaware 141) April 28.

This is the final cleanup. Enroserv Inc. of Clayton, N.J., the firm hired by BG to conduct the cleanup, was removing the last of 1,300 tons of contaminated soil Friday, completing a weeklong effort.
