Aikins Harry F. Aikins, II. of 109 E. Cleveland Newark, died Sunday of cancer in Parkview Convalescent Center. 2801 Sixth St Mr.

Aikins retired in 1982 from the food service department at the University of Delaware, after working there eight years. He retired due to illness. Before that be was a sanitation worker with Stanley J. Twardus Inc. in Bear.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Newark. He is survived by a half brother, Fred Simpson of Wilmington. Services will be 11 45 a m. Elsie Price HARRINGTON Elsie Price, 81. of 9 E. Liberty died of heart failure Tuesday in Kent General Hospital. Dover. Mrs.

Price retired in 1974 after 20 years with the Aetna Shirt Factory in Harrington. She was a native of Wilmington, and a member of Harrington Senior Center. Her husband. Frank, died in 1965. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Sapp.

Cheers' Asaoruled Prwa LOS ANGELES Actor Nick Colasanto, who portrayed the lovable bartender "Coach" on the NBC comedy series "Cheers," died Tuesday of a heart attack at his home, a network spokesman said.

He was 61 Colasanto. who was recuperating following a recent hospital stay for a heart ailment, had the attack Tuesday while watching television, said Bill Kiley. NBC's director of publicity for comedy shows. Colasanto, who also was Colasanto an accomplished director, had missed filming of the last five episodes of the popular series due to illness. Kiley said.

Four of this season's episodes remain to be filmed. Friends and co-workers had become concerned because Colasanto had lost a large amount of weight recently, said Kiley. Colasanto had been released from the hospital three weeks ago after a two-week stay. The Providence, R.I., native was a regular on "Cheers." and had portrayed the dimwitted but good-natured Coach Ernie Pantusso since the show began in September 1982. Colasanto's acting credits included dozens of television shows, the motion pictures "Raging Bull" and "Family Plot," and several Broadway plays, including "Across Evelyn G.

Young, educator, activist James J.McIntyre James J. Mclntyre. 76, of 1315 Cbadwick Road, Weishire. died of a heart a tuck Monday in Wilmington Hospital. Mr.

Mclntyre retired in 1971 after more than 41 years with Du Pont Co. He held management positions at the Memphis, and Niagara Falls, plants, and at various ordnance plants built and operated by Du Pont during World War He joined the company in 1929 at the Carncys Point, N.J., explosives department plant He became manager of the Memphis Works in 1950, and moved to Wilmington in 1952 to become assistant manager of production for the electrochemical department. He was named manager of works supplies in the department's production division in 1961. He was a native of Philadelphia and graduated from Villanova University in 1929 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He did graduate work in organic chemistry at Rutgers University.

He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Electrochemical Society. He is survived by his wife, Lilianne a son, John A. of Alexandria. three daughters, Ann Taylor of Virginia Beach, Dorothy Mclntyre at home, and Margaret Boddie of Landenberg, Pa and seven grandchildren. formerly of Sutton Apartments, Collingswood, N.J., died Monday in the Kutz Home, 503 River Road, where he had lived for six days. Mr. Politz retired about 10 years ago after working for many years in Camden. and Philadelphia as a men's clothier. He was active in B'rith Sholom in southern New Jersey.

His wife, Julia died in 1983. He is survived by a son, Perry of Philadelphia; a daughter, Sarlyn P. Maser of Wilmington; a sister, Blossom Williams of Pompano Beach, a brother, Percy of Silver Spring, and two granddaughters. Brown 79, of 305 Channel Road, Gordon Heights, was dead on arrival Monday at Wilmington Hospital after a heart attack at home. Mr. Brown retired in 1970 as head cashier after 51 years with Laird stockbrokers, formerly at 100 10th St. in Wilmington. He was an active bowler with the Wilmington Duck Pin League, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

He served as financial secretary of the church for many years. He was also a member of the Lutheran Retired Men Luncheon Club. He is survived by his wife, Emily and a brother, Campbell D. Brown of Faulkside. the Board Tomorrow Morning," which earned him a Tony award nomination, and "Hat Full of Rain." He also directed about 100 epi sodes of television shows including "Bonanza," "Columbo," "Name of the Game" and "Hawaii Five-0," and became so successful at it that he all but gave up acting.

He said he preferred directing because it's more acuve. He got his start as a director when actor Ben Gazzara helped him set a directing job on an epi sode of Gazzara 's drama series "Run For Your Life." After that, he spent a lot of time with directors Mark Rydell and Leo Penn learning the nuts and bolts of making films. In an interview last August, Cola- santo said he considered his "Cheers" character as innocent and sweet, not dumb. "I think back to "Columbo. Peter Falk was a very smart cop who played it dumb.

Colasanto, like Ted Danson's character on "Cheers," is a reco vered alcoholic. "I never drank when I worked, so I thought I had control of it," he said. "My Friday nights and Satur day nights were non-stop drinking. I didn't drink on Sunday because I had to work on Monday. He said he stopped drinking by joining Alcoholics Anonymous.

"He's the sweetest man any of us knew," the show's producers, Les and Glen Charles, said in a state ment. The producers canceled Tuesday night's filming of the Emmy award-winning show, said NBC spokeswoman Joy Peterson. alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention. In the meantime, Mrs. Young became part of a study committee looking into emotional problems that children face in school.

That work eventually led to establishment of the Family Education Center in the Wilmington area. Mrs. Young was vice president of the Delaware Congress of Parents and Teachers, and sought state money to establish kindergartens in public schools. She was also active in the Delaware Educational Television Association, promoting television as a major teaching tool in the schools, and was active in getting Channel 12 designated as an educational television station. She also supported the United Negro College Fund and the CARE package drives.

Her husband, James H. Young a career Du Pont Co. employee, died in 1981. Surviving are a son, James H. Young Jr.

of Bermuda; a daughter, Nancy J. Young of East Saltoun, Scotland; two sisters, Elizabeth Coghill of Wilmington and Edna Fotheringham of Wynnewood, and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilmington Friends Meetinghouse, Fourth and West streets. Elkton, which he operated until 1938. He established the Glasgow Arms Restaurant at U.S. 40 and Delaware 896 in 1937. Although he recently became semi-retired, he worked at Glasgow Arms until two weeks before he died. He was a charter member of Elkton Kiwanis Club.

His wife, Agnes, died in 1979. He is survived by a daughter, Mary S. Murphy of Newark; a son, John A. Sclavos of Glasgow; a sister Maria Chanoutsos of Piraeus, Greece; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m.

Adams, 75, of D. 2, died of heart failure Tuesday in Beebe Hospital. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker. Her husband, John died in 1977.

Young, a music teacher and former vice president of the Delaware Congress of Parents and Teachers, died of heart failure Sunday at Friends Hall Nursing Home in West Chester, where she had lived since 1977.

Mrs. Young, 82, formerly of Lyndhurst Avenue, McDaniel Heights, was well-known in Delaware for her political activities, her teaching and her efforts over many years to champion kindergartens and improve education generally. Born in Bryn Mawyr, Mrs. Young was a graduate of the former West Chester State Teachers College (now West Chester University) and did post-graduate work at New York University, majoring in music. She taught music in West Chester elementary schools, Wilmington Friends School and local schools for the mentally handicapped.

She was a pianist. From 1939 to 1942, Mrs. Young operated a private kindergarten. After that, she helped set up a lending library in the Taileyville area, a project that led to construction of the present New Castle County Library branch on Concord Pike at Sharpley. After World War II, Mrs.

Young became active in "Independent Republican" politics, working on party reform, battling machine politicians and attempting to upgrade the quality of General Assembly candidates. In 1956, she was an Koad, Ridgely Building, Wilmington 19810. Elizabeth C. Coerver CROZET, Va. Elizabeth C.

Coerver, 76, of Smallwood Farm, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday of a stroke in University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. Mrs. Coerver formerly lived on Nottingham Road in the Wilmington suburb of Wawaset Park. She was office manager for approximately 12 years for the late Dr. Catherine Johnson, a Wilmington obstetrician.

She moved to Crozet in 1969. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis C. Jones, with whom she had lived; a son, Robert A. Jr. of New Hampshire; and four grandchildren.

Guy Downing, 95, of 2413 Heather Road West, Heatherbrook, formerly of Nashville, died Tuesday in Kentmere-Home of Merciful Rest. Mr Downing retired in 1953 as a certified public accountant with the comptroller's office of the state of Tennessee. He continued work in private practice until age 88. He came to Wilmington in 1978. Before joining the Army to serve in World War he was a farmer in western Tennessee.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of World War I. His wife, Hazel died in 1974. Surviving is his son, Roland Granville, with whom he lived; three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Services and burial will be Saturday in Nashville. Shawn L.

Washington Shawn Leonard Washington, 13, of 2020 W. Newport Pike, died of respiratory failure Saturday at home. He had been ill with cerebral palsy. He could not attend school due to his illness. He is survived by his mother, Shirlene E.

Washington, with whom he lived; his father, OIlie Booker of Wilmington; his maternal grandparents, Jeanette and Noble Washington Sr. of Wilmington; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Myrtle Woodard of Wilmington; and his paternal great-grandmother, Virginia Cooper of Wil-' mington. Ventresco, 83, of 324 W. Summit Elmhurst, formerly of Rigdon Road, Vilone Village, died Sunday of heart failure in St. Francis Hospital. Mrs. Ventresco was a plant worker at Electric Hose Rubber Co.

Gus A. Sclavos, set up Glasgow Arms in 1937 Gus A. Sclavos, 88, of Old Post Road, died of arteriosclerosis Monday at home. Mr. Sclavos was born in Greece and moved to the United States in 1917.

His first job was a toolmaker at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore. He later became co-owner of the Howard Hotel in Elkton, and in 1931 opened the Elk Restaurant in Evelyn E.B. Hazzard Evelyn E. Burns Hazzard, 77, of Brandywine Convalescent Center, Greenbank Road, formerly of Lorewood Avenue, Elmhurst, died of pneumonia Tuesday in Riverside Hospital. Mrs.

Hazzard, a housewife, was a native of Wilmington. She was a member of St Matthew's Catholic Church. Her husband, William died in 1964. She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn R. Hazzard of Wilmington; and two sisters, Ruthe K.
