Arranges for Preacher Next, there was the arrangement for the post-midnight marriage ceremony not an easy task, despite the fact that Elkton has an abundance of "spare preachers." A "marrying parson," like other ministers, is not particular about burning the "midnight oil" unless it is for some highly worthy cause. The couple finally arranged with the state police to meet the regulation concerning the 11 o'clock curfew for soldiers. Then they made the marriage ceremony arrangements with the Rev. W. C.

Night Feeders Usually a few worms may be seen leeding during the day and larger numbers of them may be discovered by turning over clods and looking under trash at the bases of plants. When food becomes scarce in one field, the worms migrate in large numbers to adjacent fields. Their "marching" habits have given them their name. Two methods of control have been suggested by Dr. Paul L.

Rice, head of the Department of Entomology at the University of Delaware. First, the spread of the worms may be prevented by plowing furrows around infested fields and dragging a log up and down these furrows to produce a dust mulch over which the worms will be unable to crawl. Use Bran With Poison Second, if the infestation is discovered early enough, injury may be prevented or at least greatly reduced through the use of a poisoned bait. The formula for this bait is as follows: Bran, 100 pounds; Paris green or sodium fiuosilicate, 4 pounds; water, sufficient to make a moist but not soggy bait. The bran and the poison should be mixed thoroughly first by shoveling over several times on a level floor.

Then the water is added, using small amounts at a time until bait of the proper moisture content is produced. Approximately seven or eight gallons of waters will be needed. The bait should be scattered by broadcasting over the infested fields. From 10 to 20 pounds per acre should be sufficient. Thebait should be applied in the evening in order that it may still be moist when the worms come out to feed.

Old Hardwood Sawdust Used Since bran is hard to get now, part or all of the bran content may be replaced by sawdust.
