George E. Pope, 75; Architect, Civic Leader George Edwin Pope, 75, a prominent Delaware architect and civic leader, died yesterday at the Tilton Terrace Nursing Home, 801 N. Broom St, after a long illness. He was senior partner in the Pope, Kruse and McCune Wilmington architectural firm until his retirement 4 years ago. He founded the firm in 1927.

Delaware buildings that he designed include the Custom House and Federal Office Building and the adjoining U.S. Court House; Phase I of the Civic Center, Delmarva Power Light Wilmington headquarters; three of the Wilmington Housing Authority's family housing projects; the John Dickinson and Thomas McKean High Schools in Wilmington; the Louis L. Redding Middle School in Middletown, and family housing developments at the Dover Air Force Base. He was a former chairman of the Wilmington City Planning Commission, president of the Delaware Chapter of the the American Institute of Architects, president of the state Board of Examiners and Registration of Architects, a member of the state Board of Housing and a director of the Girl's Club of Wilmington. He served in the U.S.

Navy and was graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburg, now Carnegie-Mellon University. Mr. Pope is survived by his wife, Dorothy T. Pope of Devon a two daughters, Frances P. O'- son, John I E.

of Lake Forest, Sullivan of Westgate Farms and Carol T. Silk of Wilton, Conn; a sister, Mrs. Harold Ellis of Harmony, and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be Tuesday morning at 11 at the Hockessin United Methodist Church, Lancaster Pike. There will be viewing.

Dirk Lee Young Daniel Salicone BLADES The body of a Bridgeville boy was recovered yesterday afternoon, a day after he fell into the Nanticoke River near here and drowned. Mr. Banister was a retired entertainer and dance instructor. He is survived by his sister, Florence B. St. John of Longview, Washington.

(UPI) A man hailed a cab and told the driver to take him to the Cache Road Bank. He asked the driver to wait outside. Inside, the man pulled a blank pistol, robbed the bank, calmly returned to the taxi and asked the driver take him to Ft. Sill. The cab was seen driving away by a bank employe.

A short time later, a police sergeant stopped the taxi and took both driver and passenger to police headquarters. Police found the stolen money and a blank pistol in the cab. Ship's Captain Denies Blame Dog Saved, 2 Humans Die CAMDEN, N.J. (UPI) Schooner Capt. Cyril Labrecque was released on $5,000 bail yesterday after pleading innocent to charges he caused the deaths of two Connecticut men by forcing them out of a lifeboat to make room for his dog after shipwreck.

Labrecque, formerly a Connecticut resident and now of Santa Ana, was indicted for allegedly ignoring the pleas of three men hanging onto the sides of an 11-foot lifeboat to throw his 80- pound dog overboard to make room for them. Bradford Blakely, 20, and Paul Sagarino, 19, both of Wethersefield, died after spending 9 hours in the frigid waters off Atlantic City after the schooner Sadie and Edgar sank Jan. 28, 1974. The dog, an 11-year-old Labrador retriver named 'Happer, survived the voyage. The third man hanging onto the boat, Valentine Bach, 47, of Chester, climbed into the stern of the boat to a seat near the dog after he realized his two companions had died of exposure, according to authorities.

3 Killed, 11 Hurt In Canadian Hotel Fire VICTORIA, B.C. (AP) A fire of undetermined origin ripped through the Royal Olympic Hotel early today, killing three persons and injuring 11 others, authorities said.
